I think the number of vending machines should be cut down to two. It will decrease the number of people using them because the wait will be longer and things will be gone faster. If this happens less people will go to them and people will forget about them. Yes if you miss breakfast and need something to eat the vending machines are there, but simple solution is change your routine or simply get up earlier. Vending machines are a problem but not the biggest we need to focus on. That is my opinion, deal with it.

I agree with some of your points, but I think it would be better to get rid of them completely. I really loved the point of just simply getting up earlier to be able to eat real food for breakfast.
Yeah man, those things are really dangerous to be around. We should get rid them. If you read my post you'd know what I mean.

I agree with the fact that we should get up and eat real food. I would rather eat real food than fake card board.

My opinion on this matter is simply that we get rid of the vending machines. The same people giving us the foods, are the same people who are trying to get rid of childhood obesity. Many would argue, " BUT CHASE ITS CHEAPER, FASTER, AND MORE ACCESSIBLE IF YOU DONT GET LUNCH/BREAKFAST! ". Well, not eating breakfast is bad, but eating junk doesnt make it any better. These foods are full of junk, full of things that are some of the leading causes of obesity itself. You can actually get much more food for just getting a lunch at the school. You get a entree, a side and ALL the veggies and fruits you want, all for only 2.05! Where can you get cheaper food anywhere? SO TO SUM UP! I believe we should get rid of vending machines to help prevent the rise of obesity in children and to overall help the health of the school itself.
I agree with some of the stuff you said about how the vending machines are unhealthy and we should eat healther foods. But, I don't think we should get rid of them completely.

I agree with Mackenzie. I don't think that we have to completely get rid of them. The drinks in the vending machines are not that bad for you. Also some kids are allergic to milk or don't like milk. That is the time when we need a different option for drinks. I also think that if we are going to have vending machines than all we need to have in it is juice or water.

I agree with Mackenzie. I think we could make better choices in what we eat, but there is no reason to take away vending machines completely.

I agree with what you are saying, but most of the fruit is rotten. If they had fresh fruit and vegetables that actually tasted good then I would support it all the way. The school needs to maintain the food better and more kids would eat it. I also believe that there should be healthy alternatives to breakfast in the vending machine if you happen to miss it. You can spend a dollar and get a quick breakfast. As long as the item they get is healthy then I see no problem in it. Vending machines aren't the issue. The contents are the issue, replace some of the junk food with healthier foods.

but what if we are hungry. I know its not really healthy but I think we have a right to do what we want. if we don't have vending machines then people will just start bringing fatty foods and then the school would lose some more money for it.
We should not use vending machines because most of the food is processed. Despite the fact that the foods in vending machines contain MSG (Monosodium glutamate) a chemical that kills the immune system that is in most (if none at all) processed foods. Also vending machines can endanger your physical health by falling on you, say you get cheated and you have anger issues, you'll probably rage out and start beating on the poor thing. But of course, you completely ignore the warning that they put on the side of the machines and beat away then the thing takes its revenge and then crushes you. In other words these things are not just bad for your health but dangerous. So before you use this unsuspecting murderer think, is your life really worth a snack.

ok Muhammad 1) that won't happen 2) almost everything we eat today is processed. The only way to eat truly unprocessed foods it to start your own farm and only eat food from there. If we do just what I proposed then soon people will just get tired of the wait and just forget the vending machines are there. Yep my reply, so done with the assignment Hageman.
I think that most of the foods in vending machines are unhealthy. But, this doesn't mean that we need to get rid of all of the vending machines. I would be okay with getting rid of the ones with pop and candy, but we should keep the ones with healther choices like water, juice, and have stuff more like granola bars instead of candy or more unhealthy food like that. I don't think it should be an excuse for lunch or breakfast but more like a snack throughout the day if you get hungry or need something for before practice or a game. So, to sum it up, not all vending machines are unhealthy, you just have to make the right decisions. All in all I personally wouldn't take them away completely.

I completely agree with your views Mackenzie. Reducing the amount of unhealthy snack foods and trading them out for food that contain more vitamins and other valuable nutritious content would benefit us. After all, schools are supposed to provide a healthy learning environment. How can an environment become healthy if we are even INGESTING things that are not?

I think that there should be vending machines at lunch time. I say this because sometimes you don't have time to eat lunch. Honestly, if someone has a D or an F and they have to finish something or talk to a teacher, then those people aren't going to have time to eat lunch. So to me that fastest way to me is to just grab a little snack and take it into your next class. I'm not saying go buy like 7 things in the vending machine and eat that for lunch. Just grab something to tide you over till you get home. I also agree that if you know that your not going to be able to eat lunch then eat a bigger breakfast and see if it tides you over.

When I think of vending machines, I think of candy and salty cheese filled chips. Those aren't exactly the foods that I would consider to be a healthy choice. I think that vending machines should be offered to students, but with limited amounts of unhealthy foods. My reasons for this are that students should be taught to make their own informed decisions. They will not always be under the wing of the school, so if they are educated enough to make simple wise snack food choices you should be able to rest assured that they will be able to handle nutrition outside of school as well. Also, I don't think that taking away options is always the best bet to solve the problem, but perhaps providing information on alternatives is the solution.

I think that the number of vending machines should be cut down to none. They're stocked with needless, calorie-filled drinks and foods, and people don't need to use that as a breakfast or lunch meal. Also, having the vending machines are privilege to have, and like all privileges, they can be taken away when they are abused. Having vending machines are not in our rights, and even if they were, the rights do not work for us.
If you complain that you can't eat breakfast, or that the food at lunch is ever-so-nasty, then wake up earlier, or just bring your own lunch.

I agree with you. People can eat breakfast at home or bring their own lunch. They don't need to eat the vending machine food.

Taking away vending machines is not going to solve any obese problems! If you are wanting to decrease the obesity rate of the kids of MHS, you're going to have to go into all the houses and take away all their junk food! All vending machines do is provide an easier way of snacks. They allow us to not have to bring food everyday from our homes. There is a large variety to chose from, including water! If you are going to exercise some place, you may not be allowed every few minutes to go get a quick drink of water. Buying a $1 water will save time and keep you hydrated! Also, there are a few days our school lunch does not fill me up, or does not appeal to me at all. Those days, I need something to eat! If not, during the rest of my classes, I won't be able to concentrate to the best of my abilities on the work. Instead, I'll be thinking about food! Vending machines don't cause obesity, they provide an alternative to hunger!

my opinion on this topic is that we shouldn't even be aloud to get stuff out of a vending machine because most of the foods are not healthy. Another reason I think the choice is bad is that they offer food every day at lunch, it may not be good food but it is better than fake food that is packaged. I think that if we had to have the vending machines they should make it so that only kids with no money in there food account are the only ones to get it.

I think vending machines are a bad idea. First of all, all the food in them is unhealthy. Except for the water. The only good thing about vending machines is that it's fast and cheap. That's not necessarily a good thing though. We don't need all that junk in our bodies. It won't keep us full for very long and then we will just keep eating it and eating it and that's just not good.

I think that we should be allowed to have vending machines, but take out some of the unhealthy stuff. Not everything in them has to be bad. It is our choice to get fatty foods full of sugar. No one is forcing us to get it. You could get water instead of pop. Since we are minors it is not our right, it is our privilege to have vending machines. The food does not keep us full for very long and then we just keep eating more and more. Taking away vending machines is not going to solve obesity issues.

If you took away vending machines it would not solve any problems. The kids would still bring food to school. Instead of completely getting rid of vending machines they should put healthy options in the machines. Make the school food healthy and taste good and people will want to eat it. People need to eat breakfast but if they miss it and don't have time after 1st hour to go then they should have a healthy option in the vending machine. That way they can have quick, cheap, and healthy food. This is the solution to the problem in my opinion. The money generated should also benefit health classes.

I am against getting rid of vending machines and snack foods because I like having the privilege of the choice of something other than school lunch.
I think it would be a bad idea to cut out vending machines. I get pop tarts and ritz bits from their a lot. I think it is bad to take out vending machines because I get stuff out of the vending machines a lot. If kids miss breakfast they could just go and get food from the vending machines really quick and put it in their pockets. They could just eat it for the rest of the day. It also doesn't cost that much you just need about a dollar and 50 cents. the school lunch cost like $2.05 so it is cheeper
I think that the school lunches cost more than $2.05, unless you have a reduced lunch. If they do cost that much, then they're giving you a really good deal! :)
I think that cutting the vending machines would not solve any of our students eating habbits. If the students really aned to eat unhealthy, taking away the vending machines would affect them. The students can still bring un healthy food from home, not having the school get any of that money. I don't eat out of the vending machines but, its still a good idea to have them. I don't know why people eat lunch out of the vending machines because it is much cheaper to buy a school lunch which provides you with way more healthier food, then the options in the vending machine. When do the people who get food out of the vending machines read the food label? Never. Do you know what you're doing to your body when you put that food in to your body? Thats all.
